The Move Drawing Mode, Copy Drawing Mode, Mirror Drawing Mode and Rotate Drawing Mode are all powerful "Transform" based drawing modes that can be used for Hero projects, and are particularly useful for multi-dwelling projects with duplicated dwelling designs. They can however be used on individual objects such as Windows, Doors, Skylights or other small objects so you can quickly copy those too.
All these transforms share a similar approach in their operation which is described below.
- Start on the Level of your Project where your existing objects are.
- If you are trying to perform a transform on the whole Project you should have nothing selected.
If you are trying to transform a whole Dwelling or Zone, you should ensure you have those selected properly.
Don't drag-select your whole screen which will then select everything (walls, floors, etc), won't result in a Dwelling or Zone being selected, and likely result in an unsuccessful transform action.
You select Dwellings or Zones in the Data-grid, Summary View or Visual View (via double-clicking or right-clicking objects and selecting parent Dwelling or Zone). - Begin the transform by clicking the Move, Copy, Mirror or Rotate Drawing Mode buttons in the Visual View's Left Toolbar, or via their keyboard shortcuts.
- Click the initial point that the transform will be based on, e.g. in a Move operation, the first click indicates the starting point of the Move where everything will be shifted from.
- If copying or moving to a different Level, change to the final destination Level before finishing the second click of the transform.
- Finish the transform by clicking the final destination point. Ensure that there would be no intersections or conflicts in the final destination otherwise the transform will be rejected.
Chaining Consecutive Transforms
To setup a chained transform, you must perform the Move, Copy, Rotate and Mirror actions separately.
The transform drawing modes are all performed as separate actions, but can be performed consecutively for complex duplications of similar apartments in different configurations (e.g. a rotated, mirrored version of a dwelling).
In many cases a common process for a Dwelling duplication would involve multiple drawing modes completely separately:
- Select the target Dwelling and copy it to a new Dwelling out into empty white-space somewhere in the project with no adjacent objects.
- Select the newly copied Dwelling, and then performing a consecutive rotate or mirror action on it.
- Select the new Dwelling and perform a final Move Drawing Mode action to move it to it's final destination point.
Copying entire Levels
The Level selector dropdown in the Visual View has a Copy Entire Level button at the end of each Level that will duplicate an entire Level and create a new copy at the highest Level of the Project.
